On today’s Solemnity of the Assumption, as well as last year’s also, Pope Francis has encouraged both visitors and locals to visit Rome’s Saint Mary Major Basilica to pray before the icon of Our Lady, «Salus Populi Romani». We visit the Basilica and speak with one of the canons who tells us about the icon and its history.
